We are looking for a volunteer writer who can bring important stories to life. 28 June 2026

We are looking for a volunteer writer who can bring important stories to life.

Someone with a genuine feel for words and a passion for dogs. A person who enjoys researching global developments and turning them into clear, engaging accounts that reach dog lovers, families and policymakers alike.

The International Canine Legislation Action Committee has only recently been founded, yet support is already building fast.

Scientists, vets, behaviourists and legal experts from many countries are joining us. Our mission is straightforward but powerful: to advance evidence-based laws that protect dogs from harm. At the centre of our work is the drive for a worldwide ban on aversive training tools and methods, those that rely on shock, pain, fear or intimidation. This includes electric collars, prong collars and choke chains. We want positive reinforcement and force-free approaches to become the accepted international standard, rooted in the latest understanding of canine behaviour and welfare.

Right now our news section is just beginning. That is where you come in. The world of canine legislation moves quickly and it is full of stories worth telling. There are countries introducing progressive new laws, communities pushing back against outdated rules, and real dogs whose lives have changed dramatically thanks to kinder training.

There are quiet victories, fierce debates and the steady work of advocates who refuse to give up. These are the kinds of developments that deserve to be shared widely, not buried in dry reports.

As our volunteer writer you would have the freedom to find and shape your own pieces. You might explore a recent legislative win on another continent, profile an inspiring campaign closer to home, explain the science behind force-free methods in everyday language, or follow the journey of our Declaration as it gathers signatures from around the globe. Your words would help people understand why these issues matter and, more importantly, what they can do about them.

This is not about dry press releases. It is about storytelling that connects, informs and moves readers to act, whether that means signing the Declaration, joining our growing community or simply seeing dogs in a new light.

If you enjoy digging into interesting topics, care deeply about animal welfare and want to use your writing to make a genuine difference, this role could be a perfect fit. You would be helping to build something new at a time when the momentum is real and the need is clear.

If this sounds like the kind of project you would like to be part of, I would love to hear from you.

You will have the option to remain anonymous - or I'm happy for you to sign your work.
